Entrepôts, Représentation et Ingénierie des Connaissances
Director's word

Founded in 1995, ERIC (Entrepôts, Représentation et Ingénierie des Connaissances - litteraly, Warehouses, Representation and Knowledge Engineering) is a joint research unit (équipe d'Accueil 3083) of Université Lumière Lyon 2 and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. ERIC is also a member of the Institut des Sciences de l'Homme and the Infomaths Doctoral School, and a partner of the IMU LabEx, the MaDICS research group and the Gender Institute.

Research at ERIC mainly relates to data science and business intelligence, and aims at extracting value from huge, complex databases, especially in the fields of humanities. It falls into the following domains:

  • data warehousing: intelligent integration of complex data, multidimensional modeling of complex objects, personalized on-line analysis (OLAP), data warehousing process security;
  • data mining and decision: machine learning, graph study and graph mining, complex data analysis, multicriteria aggregation, opinion lining, data mining software.

ERIC research topics

ERIC is involved in numerous academic and industrial partnerships. Its members contribute to the higher education activity (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.) of both universities Lyon 1 (FST-Informatique and Polytech Lyon) and Lyon 2 (mainly ICOM and IUT Lumière). We notably coordinate courses in data science, business intelligence, data mining and security.
